Generations offers programs specially designed to meet the needs of all children. Programs are available for infants (ages 6 weeks to 18 months), toddlers (ages 18 months to 3 years), Preschoolers (3year olds), Pre-kindergarten (4 year olds) and School-age children (ages 5 years – 12 years).
Infants and toddler programming is designed to make children feel secure and able to take risks in their growing environment. As children explore, they discover how the world around them works and begin to become familiar with their place in it.
Preschool and Pre-kindergarten programming is designed to offer an early experience in group care and develop social skills needed for future success. As preschoolers grow and develop more independence, their attention to detail grows as does their awareness of the world.
School age programming and camp offers a comfortable environment for school agers to try new things and explore areas of interest. Generations encourages children to perform to their highest ability and our staff support that growth daily.
Our Curriculum
Generations programming focuses around key areas of development to ensure high quality early learning. Generations uses key elements of the High Scope Curriculum to form the structure of daily activities and planning. Programming focuses on the following areas of development:
Social / Emotional
Children form friendships, develop independence and become more self assured. Children also learn critical problem solving skills that they will carry forward to help them form healthy relationships. Children feel safe to be who they are. This sense of security allows children to try new things and take risks which result in real learning. Children form trusting relationships, value themselves and have fun.
Physical
Being active, both indoors and out helps keep children healthy. Generations curriculum develops large and small motor skills while learning coordination and healthy habits.
Language
Children communicate verbally and nonverbally with others. From the close relationships formed with caregivers and friends, children develop these skills through practice and by modifying what they already know. Receptive and expressive language skills are developed through purposeful interactions and activities.
Cognitive
Generations curriculum supports the development of judgment, perception, memory, reasoning and critical thinking through planned activities. Reading, writing, math, and science are important aspects of curriculum to help children learn about the world around them.
Generations is committed to bringing high quality early childhood education and care to our children and their families, and we update our programs frequently with some of the most innovative thinking in early childhood development and education.
