City of Rochester Universal Prekindergarten (UPK)UPK is a free, five-day-per-week program that runs two and a half hours per day with flexible morning and afternoon start times available. Transportation is also available.This program gives children a quality, school-readiness program which builds skills and friendships. The Rochester Early Childhood Assessment Project (RECAP) offers continuous feedback that ensures the activities and concepts of the program are effective. Children who participate in this program go to kindergarten ready to learn and succeed. UPK is free to all city school district residents who will be four by December 1 of the current school year. Generations offers UPK at its NW Rochester, NE Rochester, and SW Rochester centers. Some busing is available. |

Community PreschoolThis program is designed to meet the needs of families who are looking for socialization of their preschool-age child as well as a basic school-readiness program. Your preschooler will love interacting with peers in a stimulating environment with trained staff.This two-and-one-half-hour program is offered two days a week for three-year-olds and three days a week for four-year-olds.
