Accreditation
Generations is committed to quality programming. All of our locations strive to achieve national accreditation either by National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) www.necpa.net. or the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) www.naeyc.org.
Our centers go through a voluntary, comprehensive self- study program and invite an external professional to verify compliance with NAEYC criteria for high quality early childhood programs
Accreditation is valid for five years. As defined by NAEYC, our programs offer:
- Frequent, positive warm interactions among teachers and children.
- Planned learning activities appropriate to children’s age and development.
- Specially trained teachers and administrators.
- Ongoing professional development.
- Enough adults to respond to individual children.
- Many varied age-appropriate materials.
- Respect for cultural diversity.
- A healthy environment for adults and children.
- Inclusive environments.
- Nutritious meals and snacks.
- Regular two-way communication with parents who are welcome to visit at any time.
- Effective administration.
- Ongoing, systematic evaluation.

Health and Safety Committee
Generations Health and Safety Director is charged with oversight of policies and procedures and their implementation that are in place for the children, seniors and staff of Generations. The Health and Safety Director visits each center regularly looking for safety concerns, proper implementation of policies such as handwashing, medication and first aid administration. Additionally, children and staff’s medical reports are reviewed identifying areas of concern as well as immunizations that may be required. In conjunction with a the Safety Committee, each building is inspected monthly to identify any areas of concern to be sure they are addressed quickly.
Generations’ Director of Health and Safety holds quarterly committee meetings with representatives from each center. This Safety Committee is charged with the
oversight of the general safety of the buildings. The group conducts monthly safety inspections required by OCFS and additional inspections designed to ensure the programs are delivered with children and seniors safety in mind at all times. When concerns arise, the committee follows procedures to ensures they are reported and addressed in a timely manner. These concerns are followed up with monthly to document repairs and improvements.
Generations Health and Safety Director, who is also a licensed Nurse, is available to all centers daily and is happy to talk with families when indicated.
